Our approach to edtech in schools has been dramatically transformed because of the Covid-19 pandemic this year. But how does our experience of lockdown make us re-evaluate the importance of an edtech strategy and the place to remote learning in our schools today? In this presentation, Paul Haigh will discuss how his school’s edtech approaches have adapted and evolved this year, including senior leadership strategy and vision, technology and the curriculum, staff CPD, blended learning, the digital divide and mobile devices, cyber-security and more. He will seek to offer practical insights and lessons learned from the school’s edtech work this year as well as practical reflections for senior leaders in other schools.

Headteacher, King Ecgbert School, Sheffield
Paul Haigh is Headteacher of King Ecgbert School, a large and high achieving 11-18 comprehensive school in Sheffield. The school holds the World Class Schools Quality Mark and is a DfE EdTech Demonstrator school. Paul has had an interest in EdTech since the start of his career in the mid-1990s. He has written extensively on the subject and his work has achieved several awards over the years. He is passionate about schools harnessing the potential of technology and is frustrated about how education has been left behind so many other aspects of life in the adoption of the benefits of technology. However he also maintains education is fundamentally about the interaction between teachers and students, mostly done face to face. He can see how technology can enhance that but also improve the ways schools are run more generally and how school interact with the community- most importantly parents.
