Notre Dame High School in Sheffield is an Associate Research School and one half of the Ed Tech Sheffield collaboration. In this session, Director of School Improvement John Coats will share the school's experiences of implementing remote learning, mapped against the recommendations of the recent Rapid Evidence Assessment on Remote Learning published by the Education Endowment Foundation. The session will offer practical insights and lessons learned about effective remote education provision.

John is currently Director of School Improvement at Notre Dame High School, Sheffield and Director of Hallam Teaching School Alliance – one half of Ed Tech Sheff. Notre Dame is a cohort 1 teaching school that has gone on to establish the Sheffield SCITT, the South Yorkshire Maths Hub, South & East Yorkshire Science Hub, and recently gained designation as an associate research school.
John has held several senior leadership roles that have given him a wide range of expertise, including responsibility for timetabling and curriculum design, holding the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead and responsibility for student progress and data. Originally an Oxbridge graduate, John has been in the teaching profession for eighteen years, is a Pupil Premium reviewer, and importantly remains a passionate mathematician and classroom teacher.
