The Ruminant Health and Welfare Action Group have identified dairy cattle lameness as a key area for improvement in UK dairy farms. There is a wealth of veterinary knowledge about the causes, pathogenesis and effective treatments for the most common causes of lameness, but engaging farmers and enacting change at herd level can be more challenging.
One issue is the early detection of lameness, since cows treated within 48 hours of becoming lame are significantly more likely to have a shorter lameness episode and make a full recovery. This webinar will cover early signs of lameness and the practice of mobility scoring, as well as the most effective treatment of the common conditions.
