Despite many advances in the clinical and scientific understanding of the causes of delayed wound healing, hard-to-heal and painful wounds present an enormous burden on patients and healthcare systems around the world. This session will explore the rationale and evidence for using bioelectrical stimulation to accelerate wound healing and pain reduction in hard-to-heal wounds. Although the concept is not new, previous electrical stimulation offerings have largely been clinic-based and inconvenient for patients. In today’s communication we will introduce Accel-Heal® - a single-use, easy to operate, continually active, bioelectrical stimulation device for wound healing and pain reduction, that patients can use in their own homes.
