About
While PERC is the technology behind the vast majority of PV modules rolling off production lines today, n-type technologies offer higher performance and better long-term reliability. As challenges in their large-scale production are overcome, and costs for the two come closer to parity, the solar industry is taking notice.

Among n-type technologies, tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) has several advantages that will likely make it the market leader and first to take significant market share away from the established PERC technologies. Chinese manufacturer Jolywood is among the companies betting big on TOPCon, with plans to expand its manufacturing capacity to 16 GW over the next few years.

During this pv magazine Webinar, Jolywood’s deputy general manager Chen Jia will be on hand to take us through the company’s technological achievements, and the advantages of TOPCon technology in comparison with both p-type PERC and other n-type rivals. And we’ll hear more about the improved reliability of TOPCon products, demonstrated in Jolywood and Munich Re’s partnership offering a 12-year product & materials warranty, and a 30-year performance warranty for Jolywood’s modules. Sinney Leung, director of business development for green tech solutions at Munich Re will join the program to discuss why TOPCon’s increased reliability is key to making such partnerships possible and enabling Jolywood’s clients to secure their long-term investments.

Finally, to help us gauge the size of the opportunity here, Derek Zhao – senior analyst at PV InfoLink will share forecasts for the development of TOPCon technology in the coming years, which comes with big expectations for product performance, manufacturing capacity and market share.
