Initiative partner: K2 Systems
During pv magazine‘s upcoming webinar, K2 Systems will present two recent PV developments designed for flat roofs: The aerodynamically optimized mounting systems, D-Dome V and S-Dome V. The V-geometry of the east-west mounting system has been designed to allow for expansion and contraction in rail orientation, which might occur as a result of the heating and cooling down of a roof, while a newly designed EPDM-support pad – the “Mat V” – can compensate for variations in orthogonal direction.
The Mat V serves as a replacement for the hitherto conventionally used mounting structure protective mat, and protects a roof’s covering, without the typical foil-laminated underside. A consequence of this, according to Marco Stifel, product manager at K2, is that the static friction is higher compared to other systems. If an array is installed using this system, it would require significantly less ballast. Furthermore, the support pad allows for a greater shearing between the top and bottom side. This would allow the system to deal with temperature induced expansion of the aluminum rail.
During this webinar, we will discuss the new systems and look at the test results of the new materials.
Part of the discussion will focus on what to keep in mind when choosing roof membranes. Günther Fischer, Professor at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences will share his expertise on this topic with us.
