About
In 2021, manufacturers are beginning to turn to n-type technologies to push for higher cell efficiencies. Among these, tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) cells are proving popular thanks to their high efficiency potential, and their relatively simple transfer to large scale production, by upgrading rather than replacing existing factory equipment.

As the PV industry gears up for n-type growth, we take a look at the developments that have got the technology to its current level, and those making their way through the research and development community to achieve even higher efficiencies at scale in the future.

JinkoSolar has set multiple world records this year with its TOPCon cells, most recently pushing efficiency to 25.4% thanks to a variety of innovations from the company’s R&D department. And in the webinar we’ll hear from Mohamed Saady, head of technical services and product management for the MENA region, will take us throught JinkoSolar’s roadmap to reach even higher efficiencies with TOPCon over the coming years, and to keep solar’s levelized cost of electricity falling.

And we’ll also take the chance to zoom out from Jinko’s impressive achievements and look at progress across the solar industry toward implementing TOPCon in large scale production. We’ll be joined by Dr. Radovan Kopecek, managing director of advanced cell concepts at ISC Konstanz, who will take us through some of the opportunities and challenges created by recent progress in TOPCon cell processing.
