About
In recent times, U.S. developers and other solar module buyers have encountered a unique set of opportunities and challenges.

One area of potential concern is the storage of modules in warehouses. Recently, there has been an increase in the number of modules being stored in warehouses in the U.S. due to several drivers. While some goods can be stored long-term with minimal damage, solar modules face risks if not stored properly. CEA’s inspections of stored modules have identified common preventable risks related to handling and storage conditions, such as improper stacking, exposure to moisture and handling damage.

Additionally, the rise in domestic manufacturing brings exciting opportunities in the U.S. solar market while introducing quality risks associated with new factories. As new technologies, production lines and workers ramp up, buyers should be prepared for increased quality risks.

The good news is that many of these risks are easily preventable or can be significantly mitigated with proper precautions. By understanding these risks and taking appropriate measures, developers can ensure the longevity and quality of their modules.

Our expert speakers from Clean Energy Associates (CEA) will dive into these topics:

Brian Hansen, Director of Supply Chain Management will give a brief overview of U.S. module import volumes and share some of the key drivers for the uptick of modules in storage.

Claire Kearns-McCoy, Senior Engineering Manager at CEA, will highlight common risks associated with storing modules in warehouses, sharing findings from their inspections, and provide steps developers can take to reduce risks.

Mike Scott, Senior Manager of QA and ESG at CEA, will review common quality risks based on CEA’s inspections in new module factories, and outline steps to ensure your modules meet the quality requirements in your contract.
