Ocean Winds

Dan Finch has worked within the renewables industry for over 30 years. Holding Engineering and Management roles at all stages from project conception, development, construction and O&M in Hydro and Wind technologies.

Dan is Managing Director of Ocean Winds UK; a 50-50 joint venture by EDP Renewables (EDPR) and ENGIE, responsible for leading the development of commercial-scale offshore wind generation in the challenging conditions of the outer Moray Firth. Dan is also a company Board Director for several project companies responsible for the delivery of the Offshore Assets within Europe and North America.

With 17 years of experience with a Scottish utility in the engineering and commercial aspects of renewable energy, and as part of the team that delivered the Beatrice Demonstrator project, Dan joined the founding team of SeaEnergy Renewables. As part of that team, he was responsible for offshore wind farm bid proposals, where, in competition with some of the world’s biggest energy companies, SeaEnergy Renewables was the smallest successful developer in the Crown Estate’s Round Three Offshore Wind Licensing Programme.

As a result of that success, Dan went on to lead the development of up to 1800MW of offshore wind generation capacity in Zone 1 of the Round Three Licensing Programme – the outer Moray Firth, as Development Director for Moray Offshore Renewables Ltd.

Following SeaEnergy’s acquisition by Repsol in 2011, Dan went on to become Managing Director of EDPR UK, where he leads EDPR’s growing UK operation in the development of wind energy in various projects from its headquarters in Edinburgh.

As well as responsibility for the UK and Ireland he is the lead in European offshore new markets.
