The coastal environment is experiencing a number of pressures and initiatives, and in many cases, there has been a focus in addressing those arising from development close to the marine environment. However, there are strong linkages between development and activities inland and the environmental issues faced along the coast. his event speakers will highlight the challenges and constraints, but also strengths and opportunities involved planning for the coast. Town Planner, Henry Adams

Zac is a Town Planner who joined Henry Adams from Arun District Council in early 2021, bringing a range of experience from his time there. Zac is currently completing a Town Planning Apprenticeship at London South Bank University and working towards Chartership with the RTPI. Zac has a wide range in planning experience, scaling from householder development, to residential and agricultural developments.

Senior Specialist – Coast PSO Strategy & Adaptation

Uwe has worked on the coast for over 20 years in academia, consultancy, and government. Working at the Environment Agency for the last 12 years, he advises on a wide range of area and regional (Southeast England) coastal maintenance works, schemes and strategies, as well as national R&D projects and coastal monitoring, and works with and supports Local Councils individually or through the Coastal Groups.
He has published over 40 papers ranging from pure science to coastal engineering and management, covering beaches as well as rocky coasts, and on time scales from years to millennia.

Senior Lecturer, University of Brighton

Andrew is a Senior Lecturer on the RTPI-accredited MSc Town Planning course at the University of Brighton. The course specialises in coastal planning , climate change and regeneration and was one of the first to offer the Chartered Apprenticeship degree course for training the planners of the future. He is also a planning and environmental consultant, focusing on climate change adaptation, flooding and integrated water management. Until September 2016, Andrew was a senior advisor at the Environment Agency, helping to develop national planning policy and guidance. He has served on the RTPI's General Assembly and various Committees since 2015. Outside work, Andrew enjoy spending time with my family, representing Surfers Against Sewage, surfing, cycling and supporting Fulham FC
