An overview of the historic Executive Orders (EO) and directives, as well as the recent Biden Administration EO, which have shaped the JBLE-Langley Climate Change Vulnerability Study will be discussed. This study was recently published in the TME article “Focusing on the Future, Now”. From that basis we will explore the daily challenges and costs of living with nuisance flooding, ever increasing storm frequency and intensity, and the on-going battle for resiliency in the face of sea level rise. The technical approach to Best Management Practices (BMP) selection including data organization and BMP inventory, modeling and calibration, forecasting to account for uncertainty, and alternatives vetting will be presented. Future plans for real time data collection to inform BMP design and quantify the protectiveness and resiliency of individual grey and Nature and Nature Based Features in terms of social, economic, and ecological valuations will be discussed.
