In 2023, there is a 50% increase in the likelihood that a young person will suffer from anxiety, depression or another mental health problem which may lead to suicidal ideation than there was just three years ago.

It's obvious that our students need us now more than ever. But how can we ensure they receive the support they need when school funds and student support staff are stretched thin?

Dean Wilson, co-founder of You Got This (YGT), a youth suicide prevention organization, and Director of Student Services of Utah's Uintah School District, will share some of the ways K-12 schools and student services teams can ensure they're effectively and proactively supporting student safety and wellness.

Originally from Ogden Utah, Dean served as a teacher in Tooele County School District. He moved to the Uintah Basin and worked as a character education and history teacher.

He transitioned to administration and served as an Assistant Principal, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent. He also served as a Vice President of a Technical College and Executive Director of a K-12 Charter School.

Currently, Dean is the Director of Student Services for the Uintah County School District. Dean also works as an educational consultant helping schools to track and report mastery of standards as well as develop systems of support for PLCs, RTI, PBIS, and social and emotional learning. Dean completed his EdD in Educational Leadership from the University of Wyoming.
