Rodney is an elected California Democratic Party Assembly District Delegate; Oakland Housing, Residential Rent, and Relocation Board Member; a University of California, Merced Foundation Board Trustee, and a Program Officer for Policy and Innovation at the San Francisco Foundation (SFF), one of the nation’s largest community foundations. SFF's mission is to mobilize resources and act as a catalyst for change to build strong communities, foster civic leadership, and promote philanthropy in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since its founding in 1948, SFF has distributed $2.3 billion in grants to nonprofits to advance racial equity and economic inclusion. As the Policy and Innovation Program Officer, Rodney works in partnership with the Community Impact Team to manage a grant-making portfolio and advance affordable housing systems change. The Policy and Innovation Division supports federal, state, regional, and local policy efforts to expand tenant protections and the preservation and production of affordable housing to ensure that Bay Area residents with low incomes have a safe and affordable place to call home.

Additionally, Rodney currently serves his community as an Associate Member of the Alameda County Democratic Party Central Committee and sits on the boards of New Leaders Council Oakland and the Greenlining Institute Academy Alumni Association. In 2021, Rodney was appointed to the Regional Planning Committee at ABAG by the Mayor of the City of Berkeley and the Housing, Residential Rent, and Relocation Board by the Mayor of the City of Oakland. In 2022, Rodney was appointed to the Policy Advisory Council at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. Rodney is the Founder of R&N Strategies, LLC, a political consulting and strategy firm focused on supporting progressive, grassroots candidates for public office in the Bay Area. He currently resides in Oakland, CA.
