P&O Maritime Logistics

Kris is the Head of Technology and Logistics at P&O Maritime Logistics, bringing over 16 years of technology expertise to the company. Previously at the United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), Kris was responsible for IT and logistics solutions, leading regional teams in the UAE, Europe and West Africa. At P&OML, Kris has driven the digital programme, including implementing the company’s first Maritime Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and executing a cloud-first strategy moving all core systems and infrastructure to Microsoft Azure. He also leads the deployment of IoT technology for the fleet, enabling real-time data collection and developing the company’s logistics platform – a critical part of P&OML’s solutions for its customers.
Stig Petersen

Senior Scientist

SINTEF Digital

Dr. Stig Petersen is a senior scientist at SINTEF Digital, where his area of research is communication. His main focus is on wireless and industrial communication systems for use in monitoring, control and safety applications. His work comprises theoretical evaluation, laboratory and field testing, industrial pilots, as well as technology qualification.

Dr. Petersen primarily works with solution providers and end-users within offshore energy and maritime domains. In recent years he has specialized in industrial 5G, identifying applications and use cases for both public and private 5G infrastructure. He is currently the project manager of the "Maritime 5G" project, a Norwegian national research project with Kongsberg Maritime and SINTEF. The primary objective of this project is to identify and develop business cases and technical specifications for maritime 5G-based solutions and implement pilot applications to be demonstrated in realistic environments.
Paolo Pagano

Director of CNIT Laboratory at Port of Livorno

Dr. Paolo Pagano is head of the “Technology Transfer” Research Sector at the National Inter-University
Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT) in Pisa, Italy. From October 2015 he is also the Director of
the CNIT laboratory on advanced sensing and networking in sea ports in Livorno. His research activities
have a specific focus on IoT and Mobile Networks. He is responsible of public and private research grants
in the domain of Intelligent Transport Systems and Smart Plants. He is participating (on behalf of CNIT)
to the ETSI standardization committees for Intelligent Transportation and Maritime Digitalization. From
September 2018 he is member of the Working Group “Smart Roads”, Technical Committee on
Autonomous Driving at the World Road Association. From June 2021 he is the vice-chairman of the ETSI
ISG CDM (European Common Information Sharing Environment Service and Data Model). From 2022 he
is member of the Advisory Board in the Space for Maritime Task Force established by ESA and the Italian
Coast Guard to jointly carry on activities around smart and unmanned shipping.

He cooperates on a continuous basis with the respective industries, practitioners, regulatory, and legislative bodies on strategic and technical levels of expertise.
