Seyi Akiwowo
Founder and Executive Director, Glitch
Seyi AkiwowoSeyi Akiwowo is the Founder and Executive Director of Glitch, a growing not-for-profit organisation that aims to end online abuse through advocacy, campaigning and education. She is a graduate from the London School of Economics, a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and recently became a Fellow of the Institute for Canadian Citizenship.
At the age of 23, Seyi was elected as the youngest black female Councillor in East London and established Glitch in 2017 after she faced horrendous online abuse, when a video of her speech at the European Parliament went viral. Since then, she has published a
number of reports and has been interviewed for various news channels; including BBC Radio London and Sky News. She has also written for the Guardian and HuffPost.
For nine years Seyi has worked in the charity, politics and policy sectors, both in the UK and Brussels and is an expert facilitator in skills and inclusion; delivering workshops around the world, including the UK, Kuwait and the UAE. She is also a TedxLondon Speaker and a UN Goalkeeper: a leader and influencer who is dedicated to accelerating progress towards achieving the UN’s global goals.
Seyi is passionate about inclusion and leadership and has written several critical pieces and delivered talks around the world – including Washington DC, Istanbul and Geneva – on widening participation and representation of diverse groups in public life.
