Allison Russell is a Scottish/Grenadian/Canadian multi-instrumentalist as well as a singer, poet, activist and writer. She began her winding musical path with her first work in Canadian roots band Po’ Girl. Birds of Chicago, her current band with husband JT Nero, and her recent critically acclaimed collaborations like Our Native Daughters with Rhiannon Giddens, Leyla McCalla and Amythyst Kiah, have seen Russell emerge as one of the rarest, most unique artists.
