Jim is a recognized authority on the intersection of law and technology, focusing on cybersecurity, data privacy and related compliance issues.

For the last 15 years, Jim has been an expert and global thought leader in the rapidly changing intersection of technology and law. He is a long-time member of The Sedona Conference, an influential think tank on law and policy, and an active contributor to its working group (WG11) focused on Data Security and Data Privacy. He also serves on the Joint Steering Committee for Sheltered Harbor (www.shelteredharbor.org) and on the USF Cybersecurity For Executives Advisory Committee.

Jim is the author of several publications and dozens of articles and blog posts on cybersecurity, electronic discovery, data retention, privacy and machine learning.

Prior to joining Dell EMC, Jim spent over ten years practicing law, first as a commercial litigator in one of Phoenix’s oldest law firms and then as the general counsel to two technology companies. He earned a BS in Computer Science from Arizona State University and a law degree (JD) from the University of Arizona.
