Don is a research geologist focused on the use of geologic knowledge to improve the characterization of uncertain geologic interpretations. After working several years at the Illinois State Geological Survey, he left to complete his PhD in Informatics. His presentation at this, his first, ASIST conference is focused on the deconstruction of a geologic characterization workflow to guide the design of a knowledge base and reasoning application. His dissertation research is focusing on the use of disjunctive logic programming to provide multiple interpretation sets of glacial sediment distribution from a complex geologic dataset.
