Kristie specializes in addressing the conditions of confinement for women and girls, including pregnant individuals, within carceral facilities. Her tireless work has significantly impacted local, state, regional, and national policy change. Recognized for her unwavering advocacy for incarcerated pregnant women, Kristie received the esteemed Dogwood Award from NC Attorney General Josh Stein. She also serves on multiple boards for national and statewide organizations, lending her expertise to research projects on policing, political violence, and pre and perinatal incarceration. As an abolitionist, Kristie strives to dismantle racist systems and actively contribute to creating a healthy, vibrant, thriving, safe, and just community.
