The focus of this event will be low-power IoT, spanning LoRa, NB-IoT, and LTE-M connectivity, which reduce power requirements, but also on new technologies that bring more power to the edge. Key to driving demand has been low-data applications, such as management of goods and asset tracking.

Track 1: The iSIM Takes Over – Reducing Power Consumption Via Integration

The Integrated SIM card, or iSIM, integrates the functionality of the SIM directly into the communications module – as such, it provides more than just design flexibility into the device. Making the SIM internal to the processor greatly reduces power consumption, enhancing battery life and allowing for the application of that power to other functions. This session will discuss the latest implementations of iSIM technology and its implications for low-power IoT.

Like any application of processing power, however, providing security involves power consumption. This session will discuss techniques for providing security without breaking the power budget for devices. An update on the IMC’s Joint Task Force on IoT Security (an initiative with the Global Certification Forum) will also be provided.
