In this session we will learn about the European Landscape on Refillable Packaging and Packaging Free initiatives set forth by Retailers and what has their experience been with consumer education, supply chain logistics and adoption rates and where they plan to take these initiatives in the coming years.

Olga Kachook
Senior Manager SPC, GreenBlue
Olga Kachook is a Senior Manager at GreenBlue, where she leads efforts around compostable packaging, bioplastics, food waste, and reusable packaging. Her background includes expertise in compostable materials and packaging, zero waste facility certification, life cycle analysis, and sustainable materials management. Prior to joining GreenBlue, she led corporate sustainability and waste initiatives at World Centric, Etsy, Cascade Designs, and Cascadia Consulting. Olga has a Master of Environmental Management from Yale University's School of Environment, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington. She is certified as a LEED Green Associate and a TRUE Zero Waste Advisor.
Jo-Anne Chidley
Founder, Beauty Kitchen UK and Return - Refill - Repeat
Jo Chidley is a chemist and the Co Founder of Beauty Kitchen, a B Corp certified business on a mission to create the most effective, natural and sustainable beauty products in the world. Widely regarded as one of the pioneers of sustainable beauty, Jo is driving the beauty industry forward with better practise approaches, always.
She is Beauty Kitchen’s toughest critic, inspecting everything from the efficacy of the products, to the way the ingredients are sourced, right down to the packaging sustainability for each product. Sustainability in packaging is a subject that is close to her heart and has inspired Beauty Kitchen’s Return•Refill•Repeat programme. Implementing Cradle to Cradle design into Beauty Kitchen’s circular approach, Jo is pioneering a Reuse Revolution through sustainable innovation and design by powering the service behind the ground-breaking Return•Refill•Repeat Refill Stations.
Jo has won industry awards, including the ‘Who’s Who in Natural Beauty’ and business awards such as ‘Scale Up Entrepreneur of the Year’. She features in national and international press and is regularly invited to speak at global sustainability events, to share her ideas and knowledge on how all of us can develop new ways to build a more sustainable future.
Joan Marc Simon
Executive Director, Zero Waste Europe
Joan Marc Simon is a social entrepreneur, activist and author based in Brussels where he directs the work of Zero Waste Europe. He has been a leading voice for Zero Waste in Europe since 2007 and he is a regular speaker in many industry and NGO meetings in Brussels but also at local level as well as internationally. He is member of the Steering Committee of the Break Free from Plastic movement.
Among many other publications he has authored the Zero Waste Masterplan for cities as well as the books –in spanish- “Zero Waste – How to reactivate the economy without trashing the planet” and Ït’s plastic, stupid!”. With a background in Economics, he has decades of experience working with governmental and non-governmental organisations in the field of good governance, new economics, social justice, and environment.
Zero Waste Europe is a network of of 33 zero waste groups in 27 European countries with the mission of redesigning our relationship with resources. Zero Waste Europe also brings together 400 municipalities moving towards zero waste.
