Olga Kachook is a Project Manager at GreenBlue, where she leads the Essentials of Sustainable Packaging courses and the Composting Collaborative. Her background includesexpertise in compostable materials and packaging, zero waste facility certification, life cycle analysis, and sustainable materials management.Prior to joining GreenBlue, she led corporate sustainability and waste initiatives at World Centric, Etsy, Cascade Designs, and Cascadia Consulting. Olga has a Master of Environmental Management from Yale Universitys School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington. She is certified as a LEED Green Associate and a TRUE Zero Waste Advisor.
Bridget Anderson
Deputy Commissioner Recycling and Sustainability, NY Department of Sanitation
Bridget Anderson is the NYC Department of Sanitation’s Deputy Commissioner for Recycling and Sustainability. She is responsible for the development, implementation, and tracking of DSNY’s sustainability initiatives, with particular focus on recycling, composting, and waste reduction. In addition to traditional recycling, Ms. Anderson oversees the agency’s collection and drop off programs for household hazardous waste, electronic waste and textiles. She also directs the agency’s research and support of the local reuse sector, including donateNYC a website and mobile app to connect donors and recipients of gently used and surplus goods and excess food. She also leads the agency’s policy research and development to support sustainable waste management.
Ms. Anderson has served on several national and regional committees on recycling, composting and sustainable material management including the Recycling Partnership Technical Council, Association of Plastics Recyclers Rigid Plastics Committee, the US Composting Council Compostable Plastics Task Force, ASTM International’s Recycled Plastics subcommittee, among other initiatives. She is a 20+ year Brooklyn resident, has a Master of Public Administration degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a Bachelor’s Degree in geology and biology from Macalester College.
