    Lynne Reedman
Founder & Service Lead, DUET diabetes
“Dedicated to delivering understanding, education and training to empower people working in care, health, beauty or wellness roles; enabling them to make a positive difference to adults living with diabetes”.

I have over 13 years experience of working within the pharmaceutical sector and my passion has always been education and training. In 2021 I became a member of the National Advisory Panel on Care Home Diabetes.

In founding 'DUET diabetes' the primary aim was to improve outcomes (and therefore quality of life) for people living with diabetes, regardless of their age or circumstances. Diabetes is a complex, long-term condition and I believe that an educated and empowered workforce is crucial to achieve this. I also believe that families have the right to expect that those who are looking after their loved ones have the necessary knowledge and skills to do so.

Having recognised the need for clinically (and role) relevant interactive diabetes training for people working in the care sector, 'DUET diabetes' was created. Nurses and healthcare assistants in primary care and community settings have become integral in reviewing and looking after people with diabetes. I have therefore developed the service 'DUET diabetes' provides to reflect the different aspects of managing diabetes; from diet to foot examinations. As a result, our learners now come from both the health and care sectors (residential, nursing and domiciliary) as well as since 2020, the beauty and wellness profession due to the expansion of our 'hands on feet' training portfolio.

In wanting to ensure that learners can access the various workshops regardless the size of the organisation they work for, I began to find suitable venues and now offer the training as 'open' workshops as well as 'in house' options.

DUET diabetes Ltd provides interactive diabetes education and training to staff at all levels in the health and care sectors in East Anglia and all our workshops are delivered by experienced healthcare professionals. Underpinned by national and local guidance/guidelines, the workshops offer discussion based facilitated learning which is clinically relevant and evidence-based.
