About
Prior to every tax season we get a rush, a feeling like a farmer right before planting season. Excitement creeps in, we tell ourselves things like, “this year will be different” “I’m going to implement all those things to protect my firm” “I am going to work less this year” “I’m not going to make the same mistakes I did last year” “I am going to be better prepared for the workload”.

Next thing we know we’re working on a Sunday we realize we haven’t seen our spouse or family in 72 hours and we’re not sure when we last slept. Like the farmer that feeling fades when we are in the heat of the season holding on by a thread. Some firms can find themselves in hot water because they don’t have enough good habits or infrastructure built into their practice.

Like other disciplines in our lives, if we fail to prepare and build healthy habits many of us fall right back into bad ones. Education and preparation are step #1, the crux of the matter is creating a system that replaces our default so in those moments of stress and vulnerability we can lean into our procedures and policies to protect us.

In this webinar we discuss how to add layers of protection to you and your firm. Things like how to comply with GLBA (Gramm-Leach Bliley Act), Communication with clients and outside related parties (sec. 7216), necessary documentation to firm up defendable positions, adding internal policies to protect staff and taxpayer data. Workload and stress can make good tax professionals into bad tax professionals very quickly.
