About
"In increasingly turbulent times, telco’s need to approach their risk assessment with fresh thinking"

"When geopolitics pivot from globalisation to deglobalisation, even if only partially as we are currently experiencing, new risks not observed before emerge and interact with other risks in unprecedented, and unexpected ways. Past risks, risk behaviour and data no longer suffice in serving as prologue, and telco operators need to approach risk management in a different manner. Indeed, during times of geopolitical pivots, fresh thinking and innovative solutions have become vital if the telecom sector wishes to remain resilient. Traditional risk heatmaps - two-dimensional risk management methodologies that analyse risks discretely as single points of exposures with unconnected / unaffected likelihoods and severities become obsolete, and no longer fit the realities of the current complex environment in which telcos operate.

Philip Takken, KPMG’s Global Telecommunications Audit Sector Leader and Andries Terblance, KPMG’s Global Lead of Dynamic Risk Assessment, will discuss one such risk identification and contagion tool - Dynamic Risk Assessment - that better suits the current complex business environment, identifies new, unprecedented risks, and models the unprecedented interconnectivity of the risks. Also, they will discuss the outcome of KPMG’s most recent Dynamic Risk Assessment applied to the telecom industry. This study includes insights gained from telecom specialists from around the globe".
