About This Webinar

The Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship is designed for highly talented individuals who want to pursue an IT-related undergraduate or graduate degree and a career in the Foreign Service. This two-year fellowship program funded by the U.S. Department of State provides academic funding, internships, professional development and mentorship, and culminates in a career in the Foreign Service as a Diplomatic Technology Officer (DTO).

Join us for a 30-minute virtual info session to hear an overview of the FAIT Fellowship program and to get an opportunity to as questions during a live Q&A session.

One of several high-profile State Department diversity recruitment programs, the FAIT Fellowship aims to attract top technology talent that represents the ethnic, racial, gender, social, and geographic diversity of the United States. The FAIT Fellowship encourages applications from women, minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and those with financial need.

The FAIT Fellowship provides:

  • Up to $43,500 annually in academic funding for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees and some travel expense (see eligibility requirements).

  • Stipends, housing and travel allowances for the two summer internships: A domestic internship in Washington, D.C., at the U.S. Department of State and an overseas internship at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad.

  • Personalized mentoring and professional development opportunities throughout the program.

  • Upon successful completion of the fellowship program, FAIT Fellows receive an appointment in the Foreign Service, where they launch an exciting career as Information Management Specialists, using their tech skills to support diplomacy around the world.

    Eric Aldrich previously served as the Regional Refugee Coordinator for Panama and the Caribbean at U.S. Embassy Panama. His other assignments include Refugee and Internally Displaced Persons Coordinator at the U.S. consulate in Erbil, Iraq; Cultural Affairs Officer at the American Institute in Taiwan; Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy to Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga, and Tuvalu; Environment, Science, Technology, and Health Officer at U.S. Embassy Beijing; Cultural Affairs Officer at U.S. Embassy Tegucigalpa; and Consular Officer at U.S. Consulate Guangzhou. He is the recipient of State Department Superior and Meritorious Honor Awards and an Environmental Protection Agency Gold Medal for Exceptional Service (group award). Before joining the State Department, Eric worked in New York City at the Chinese-American Planning Council, the Council on Foreign Relations, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, and the Lower East Side Family Union.
