Ari Redbord (moderator)
Head of Legal and Government Affairs
Ari Redbord is Head of Legal and Government Affairs at TRM Labs, a blockchain analytics company. Prior to joining TRM Labs, he served as a Senior Advisor to the Deputy Secretary and the Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at the United States Department of Treasury. In this capacity, he worked with teams from the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and other Treasury and interagency components on issues related to sanctions, the Bank Secrecy Act, cryptocurrency, and anti-money laundering strategies.

Previously, Mr. Redbord served as a Senior Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, where he investigated and prosecuted cases related to cryptocurrency, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, export control, child exploitation and human trafficking. He has received numerous awards from FinCEN, the FBI, and the United States Attorney's Office, including the Attorney General's Award for leading an interagency task force dedicated to prosecuting those who abuse and exploit children.

Kenneth Schaffer
National Program Manager, Cyber Financial Group, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI)
Kenneth Schaffer is currently the national program manager for the Cyber Financial Group within HSI and has been a Special Agent at HSI for 16 years. He is one of HSI’s subject matter experts in the area of cryptocurrency and money laundering, having spent over 14 years conducting narcotics and financial investigations.

Mr. Schaffer retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve as an intelligence officer in 2016 after 21 years of service; he served 13 years as a naval officer and eight years as an enlisted marine.  As a naval officer he undertook specialized training including Defense Strategic Debriefing, Navy Special Warfare Intelligence, COXSWAIN qualifications and Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA). He deployed in support of the war on terror as a special operator with 1st Search Reconnaissance and Intelligence Group (1st SRIG) during Desert Shield and Desert Storm and served as senior joint intelligence officer (J2) and the senior joint clandestine operations manager (J2X) at Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines and Navy Special Warfare Unit 3, with focus on human intelligence collection and terror operations and financing.

Carole House
Director of Cybersecurity, National Security Council
Carole House is the Director for Cybersecurity and Secure Digital Innovation for the White House National Security Council (NSC). Carole joined the NSC from the U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), where she led cybersecurity, virtual currency, and emerging technology policy efforts as a Senior Cyber and Emerging Technology Policy Officer. Prior to FinCEN, she worked as a Presidential Management Fellow supporting the White House Office of Management and Budget's Cyber and National Security Unit and the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on cybersecurity, supply chain risk management, and critical infrastructure protection policy issues. Carole is a former Army Captain who served in chemical defense and military intelligence until November 2014, including a deployment to Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, from 2012 to 2013 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She holds a BA in international affairs from the University of Georgia and an MA in security studies from Georgetown University.
