What do weather systems, voting intentions and clinical trials have in common? They all use data in order make some kind of inference or prediction, but with this comes a degree of uncertainty. How sure can we be about the conclusions or predictions? Being able to communicate uncertainty is important for drawing conclusions or making decisions but it can be challenging to do it well.
In this webinar, we will explore some novel approaches to data visualization used in meteorology and election polling, and apply these to the results of a well-publicised clinical trial. Which methods are most effective? That depends on the eye of the beholder, and we include several interactive polls so you’ll get the chance to have your say. The webinar concludes with a panel discussion, where we’ll explore the different perspectives of statisticians and medical practitioners.
