Lifestyle and empowerment

This session will equip stoma care nurses to:

- Appreciate the varied priorities and life goals that people with a stoma may have, how an ostomy can present barriers and how these might be overcome

- Use the right appliances and accessories to provide the comfort, confidence and freedom to have a good quality of life

- Support people with a stoma to challenge stigma, insist on respect and escape being defined by their stoma
