The National Maternity Safety Conference 2022
About this Conference
An opportunity to access recordings from this year's National Maternity Safety Conference.

The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Learning Together for a Safer Maternity Future’ and built on the overwhelming success of the previous two events. The conference started with a powerful session from Donna Ockenden discussing national learning from maternity investigations, and hearing families speak openly about what they wanted to change to make maternity care better and safer - setting the scene for the day's empowering and motivational content.

We then heard throughout the day from an unrivalled panel of experts from across the maternity world, including senior representatives from NHS England, NHS Resolution, the Care Quality Commission, MBRRACE-UK, the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch, and many others.

There were inspiring keynote sessions from Dame Ruth May - Chief Nursing Officer for England, Professor Michael West speaking movingly and insightfully about the power of compassion and compassionate leadership, and - pulling it all together - our Closing Keynote was delivered by Gill Walton CBE and Dr Eddie Morris, who spoke about the future of maternity as One Voice from the Royal College of Midwives and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

The panel sessions focused on key aspects of learning and areas tied to improving safety - in particular the workforce and achieving equity.

The day gave a platform to families, professionals, and senior NHS leaders with a shared aim of making maternity care better and safer for the future.

Watching these sessions will be relevant for CPD hours, and once a threshold of viewing time has been reached a certificate will be sent.
