Trained at the University Hospital Maastricht. Since 2000 he is a full time staff functional urologist of the Radboud UMC and consultant at the Rehabilitation Clinic St Maarten in Nijmegen, NL. He chairs the Dutch Society of Functional and Reconstructive Urology. John Heesakkers is an active member of the EAU, ICS, INUS and SUFU. He is a faculty member of the ESU and of the Scientific Congres Office of the EAU. Since 2019 he is trustee and treasurer of the ICS. He authored more than 150 peer-reviewed papers and more than 10 book-chapters and books on urological topics.
