What Significance does a Growing Space Sector have for the Future of the New Space era?

Jim Graham is the Managing Director for Space in QinetiQ where he is responsible for QinetiQ’s global Space strategy and leading the business that produces satellites, deep space communications, docking mechanisms and instruments for the European Space Agency and commercial markets. Jim is also a board member of Redu Space Services. Jim has had a 20 year career in the Aerospace and Defence industry, having been with QinetiQ since 2012 where has held leadership roles in Training and Air domains. He joined from BAE Systems where he has an exciting 12 years in programme management roles in complex design and manufacture. Jim is married with two children and enjoys relaxing by running and playing rugby.

David Pile is the Regional Director UK, Europe and MENA for Northrop Grumman Space Systems. Northrop Grumman Space Systems is one of the world’s leading space companies providing reliable, agile, and affordable solutions to solve our customers toughest space problems. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, David has over 16 years’ experience of working in various roles across the aerospace and defence sector.

Alan Thompson is head of Government Affairs in Skyrora supporting the launch vehicle manufacture to achieve its ambition of providing regular access to Space, launching from the UK. Alan is responsible for managing and engaging with all key stakeholders across industry and Government. This includes Skyrora’s involvement in Parliamentary Space Committee, industry associations such as UK Space, Scottish Space Leadership Council and others, and direct engagement with all government authorities, including the Space flight regulators- UKSA and CAA. Alan’s background in international trade and development gives a new perspective the Space industry development in UK, in particular the ambition to challenge the current economic paradigm and the shift that the New Space economy will necessitate.
