Over the past year, companies across the world entered a reactive mode, either pivoting operations or shifting to a fully remote, digital environment. According to Ernst & Young’s Global Capital Confidence Barometer 2021 survey, 63% of respondents planned to increase investments in technology and digital capabilities, while 49% planned acquisitions throughout 2021.
However, before attracting clients in an international market, or building a global team to develop new product features, companies would first have to set up a local entity. The laws and regulations around entity setup vary from country to country, which puts a major burden on the business to discover the unknowns of local regulations and ensure compliance. Additionally, employee transfers during mergers and acquisitions can be lengthy and time-consuming. The challenges can get even more daunting when the portfolio company is operating in an international market.
