Making a Difference - Crisis Navigator Volunteers

ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
At The Center for Family Justice (CFJ), one of our most critical volunteer roles at CFJ is our crisis navigator positions. Our navigators are the first people that a walk-in client interacts with when they first come to CFJ for services and resources. As CFJ’s first point of contact, it’s imperative that our navigators build trust, foster a safe environment, and utilize trauma-informed approaches are essential elements in providing effective services and support to both adults and children who have experienced trauma.

The crisis navigator is a certified volunteer who provides a trauma-informed environment for the client while taking them through the initial intake forms before the client is matched with one of our advocates.

During this online informational session, Kasey Borjas, our Crisis Advocacy Program Manager, and Amanda Posila, our Director of Prevention & Community Engagement, will host the session when you will find out more about the role and the training that is required.

By Connecticut law, CFJ requires that all volunteers and interns who wish to engage in face-to-face client contact must complete a 40+ hour, state-mandated certification course. CFJ offers this virtual course three times a year in June, September, and January.

Certified volunteers are the only CFJ volunteers who may have direct, one-on-one contact with our clients. Certified volunteers participate in an additional period of training under supervision of their direct supervisor before they assume independent client interaction.

Please join us at our upcoming virtual information session on Tuesday, May 14 at 11 a.m.
