With the potential for high efficiency and reduced degradation, the production of n-type solar cells is expanding. Particularly encouraging has been the progress made with n-type tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) – with efficiencies rivalling or even exceeding heterojunction, and production techniques to minimize LeTID having been put in place.

Chinese manufacturer Jinko Solar is betting big on n-type TOPCon, looking to transition its high efficiency lines from the dominant p-type to n-type. In fact, Jinko plans to massively increase its shipments of n-type products to the Australian market.

Australia’s renowned appetite for new technology, alongside its aggressive utility-scale segment, makes the country a particularly interesting one for manufacturers like Jinko, looking to prove their technological developments at scale. So, what promise does n-type TOPCon hold? And why is it particularly useful in Australia’s hot and increasingly humid climate?

In this pv magazine Webinar we’ll be having a closer look at n-type PV cell technology, its benefits as well as challenges. Dan Su

Technical Service Manager – Jinko Solar Australia

Dan is a Charted professional engineer and Accredited solar system designer who has 8 years of practices in the solar industry. Dan has various experience in project development, system design, construction and O&M, form rooftop commercial to ground mount solar farm projects. As technical service manager at Jinko Solar Australia, Dan looks after all technical aspects including product management, presales to aftersales service，training and promotion for both roof top distribution market and utility solar farm. Dan is specialized in DC system design and optimization for large scale solar projects working with clients locally and internationally.

Aaron Bonanno

Principal Engineer – GSES

Aaron is the Principal Engineer of the engineering design team at GSES. He has 8 years experience in the solar industry, locally and internationally. Aaron has moved through the three engineering departments within GSES. In GSES training Aaron traveled Australia and the Pacific conducting installation practical training for installers. In the GSES Owners Engineering team he reviewed, installed and conducted inspections of systems across NSW and the Pacific conducting performance reviews and installation inspections. He has experience in PV and Battery system design ranging from 30kW to 5MW and management experience in network technical studies.

Dr Mark Griffith

Power Generation Practice Leader – Aurecon

Mark is a renewables engineer with more than 10 years’ experience in the fields of renewable and environmental engineering, focusing primarily on solar and wind projects. His most recent focus has been on the development and execution of large commercial and utility scale solar projects in Australia and abroad. He has strong contract and project management skills having led multidisciplinary teams in the infrastructure and power generation sector.

Blake Matich

Editor, pv magazine

Blake is a writer and journalist with international experience covering politics, culture, the arts and most recently the solar PV industry. From Sydney, Blake is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Berlin.

Bella Peacock

Moderator | Editor, pv magazine Australia

Bella completed her MA in English Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin, living and working in Berlin and Sarajevo for four years before returning home to Australia in 2019. She joined pv magazine Australia in 2020, after 18 months working as a digital producer for Nine, and has since become completely engrossed by the world of renewable energy, technology and sustainability. Bella has completed a BA in Media Arts & Production at Sydney’s University of Technology.
