According to the World Health Organization (WHO), self-care is “what people do for themselves to establish and maintain health, and to prevent and deal with illness.” Soft-tissue injuries are treated with compression and ice, so what resources are available to help us balance our mental wellbeing? How can we incorporate self-care into our workday? Through this insightful webinar, Kevin Mitchell ’09, ’11 MA will give his approach on how we can practice self-care in our everyday lives including:
-Building self-confidence through establishing your own mental health gauge
-Understanding the importance of maintaining a daily routine
-Identifying red flags and green flags at work and in the career marketplace
-De-stigmatizing mental health by highlighting problematic, non-inclusive language
-Defining micro aggressions, and having difficult conversations in the workplace
-Piloting mental health crises, and healing through storytelling
In light of observing Black History Month, Kevin will also weave in Black perspectives throughout the presentation; in addition to sharing personal stories of overcoming challenges. We hope to empower our Wildcat family with takeaways, tools, and encouragement to become better self-care advocates for ourselves and those around us.
