We are delighted to offer an exclusive opportunity to view selections from opera singer Maureen Broy Papovich's new song cycle written in honor of her grandmother’s work fighting for the Equal Rights Amendment — mere days before she will debut the piece, virtually, for the Belmont Paul Women’s Equality National Monument on August 23, 2020.

In this deeply personal musical work about her grandmother's work with Alice Paul and the fight for gender equality, Broy Papovich shares the story of her grandmother, Cecil Norton Broy, who lived and worked with Alice Paul on the ERA as political chairman of the National Woman’s Party. Together Broy Papovich and composer Rain Nox collaborated to craft a new song cycle, six songs total, that speak to the history of the Equal Rights Amendment and the National Women’s Party. Created for classical soprano and piano, the work highlights stories from the women’s movement, the ERA’s history and current status.
