Heterojunction (HJT) products now represent a small but growing share of the market for PV modules. And this technology can already claim several advantages over others. Though heterojunction cell technology has been around a long time, only in the last few years have PV suppliers really begun to look at it as an option for the low-cost manufacturing mainstream.

Today we see HJT on the technology roadmaps of major cell and module maker, and several already striving ahead with large scale production. Among these is Huasun, which has successfully built 20 GW production capacity and achieved cumulative shipments exceeding 6 GW to over 40 countries and regions. The numbers behind these modules are impressive, with power outputs up to 740 W and module efficiencies beyond 23% in mass production. And research into further process optimizations and combination of HJT with perovskites is paving the way for cell efficiencies beyond the 28% mark and module power of 800 W.
