Public law requires OSD CAPE to develop and maintain a database that records the operating and support costs for major acquisition programs, maps these costs to a common taxonomy, and publishes the data to authorized users. In response, CAPE initiated the Enterprise Visibility and Management of Operating and Support Costs (EVAMOSC) development effort. This presentation depicts the current and planned cloud computing tools used to accomplish this task. The presentation will cover; 1- DoD operating and support cost collection; 2-Current data discovery efforts; 3-An overview of the future computing environment. The presenter will explain the benefits of the chosen architecture, and how it meets the organization's unique requirements.
The audience will learn how OSD CAPE utilized internal IT management to procure a cloud computing enclave, and how CAPE leveraged private industry contractors to develop, and manage the applications needed to conduct data discovery with large data sets. This method (government managed cloud access/industry managed application development) can be replicated by other federal agencies with similar application requirements. Additionally, cost analysts will learn about a future resource for operating and support costs.
