WEBINAR DETAILS
  • About
There is abundant literature to support the importance of proper nutrition in the prevention and treatment of wounds.
This session will focus on the evaluation and diagnosis of undernutrition and malnutrition, with attention to validated nutrition screening tools and evaluative parameters such as nutrition focused physical findings.

Wound healing consists of a cascade of events that result in tissue reconstitution. The wound healing process has three stages, inflammation, proliferation, and remodelling or maturation. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body and is also the main component of the wound matrix. A large body of evidence demonstrates that nutrition and wound healing are intrinsically linked and a person in a state of malnutrition do not have sufficient nutrients available to maintain and repair tissues. There is a growing need to provide macro - micro nutrients and fluid will promote good skin health and tissue repair.
