The latest generation of 600 W+ modules is widely seen as too heavy and unwieldy for use in rooftop projects. But this doesn’t have to mean that the entire segment is left out of the latest round of technology upgrades, unable to see the benefits of larger wafer formats and new cell interconnection strategies.

In this pv magazine Webinar, produced in partnership with Trina Solar, we’ll take a closer look at the company’s latest offering, the Vertex S series. Following the launch of its Vertex modules designed for large-scale projects earlier this year, Trina is now bringing the benefits of the 210mm wafer format to commercial and residential rooftop projects.

The Vertex S series incorporates 120 1/3cut mono PERC cells, reaching power ratings up to 405 W. And weighing just over 20 kg, the module is designed with existing balance-of-systems solutions in mind and should prove beneficial to performance without disruptions to system design or difficulties in installation.

We’ll hear first from Klaus Hofmeister, Product Marketing Manager at Trina Solar. He will take us through the inner workings of the Vertex S module and the benefits of bringing 210mm cell technology to both residential and commercial rooftop projects. And he’ll also discuss Trina’s work to ensure compatibility with existing BoS approaches, and the company’s plans to roll out the product commercially.

Following on from Klaus we will have a presentation from Aymeric Barret, Technical Director of Skyray Engineering. He will discuss, with the benefit of years of experience in rooftop PV, how new modules like Trina’s will influence system design and energy yield. And to close off the presentations, we’ll have Andreas Reischl of Baywa r.e. to discuss the rooftop PV market across Europe from a wholesaler’s perspective, and offer his insight into how the appearance of new modules like the Vertex S might influence this.
