About
Core Network transformation is a key part of 5G network deployment. Virtualisation and Cloud Data Networks provide fundamental technology to enable new network capabilities that go beyond 5G.

The webinar will discuss the evolution of 3GPP Core Networks, and the role of Data Centre Networks and Virtualisation in the new 5G Core Network. This will include the role of the fundamental technologies of SDN (Software Defined Networks) and NFV (Network Function Virtualisation) in the evolution.

To see the whole ‘end to end’ picture we will also consider the connectivity and integration with the Radio Access Network (RAN) and the trends driving this area. Similarly, the mechanisms to support MEC (Mobile Edge Computing) for Data Network connectivity will be explained.

In addition, a key objective for 5G is to support new ‘industry verticals’ such as ‘Smart Factory’, and so the new requirements for timing sync and Industrial Networks will be included. Finally, the future evolution ‘beyond 5G’, and first ideas for 6G architecture will be introduced.
Agenda
  • Evolution of 3GPP Core Networks to Service Based Architecture.
  • The drive for virtualisation and Software Defined Networks.
  • The role of MEC and Cloud computing.
  • Implementation of network slicing to support new industry verticals.
  • Further architecture evolution beyond 5G.
