Parasites pose a major economic threat to the cattle industry and can compromise health and welfare of individual animals. However, it is widely recognised that the approach taken to control needs to evolve if it is to remain sustainable. We need to implement an integrated approach to control, using a range of tools to control worms and avoid overreliance on anthelmintics in order to preserve their efficacy in the future. But what does integrated control look like, and how can we take these first steps towards adopting this approach? This session will look at how risk assessment, pasture management and targeted treatments can be utilised on farm to help futureproof parasite control strategies.
