Viasat is an industry leading source for the design, development, operation, and maintenance of satellite systems, networking technologies and wireless communications systems. While Viasat is widely known for providing satellite communications services, the company also just completed the first full year of operation in its commercial Ground Segment as-a-Service (GSaaS) business area known as Real-Time Earth.

The need for 24/7 persistent TT&C and payload connectivity will continue to grow. Viasat has created a network of globally dispersed ground stations for the earth observation and remote sensing communities to address diverse mission requirements.

Aaron Hawkins
Dir, Viasat Real Time Earth
Aaron Hawkins serves as the Business and Strategic Account Manager for Viasat’s Real-Time Earth (RTE) Ground-Station-as-a-Service (GSaaS) business area. He is charged with enabling the network’s global expansion and developing innovative solutions to enhance the RTE customer experience.

Aaron has over 17 years of defense and commercial aerospace experience. He started his professional career as a national security representative within the executive branch of the United States government where he led efforts domestically and internationally to confront transnational threats through engagement with allied partners, often utilizing geospatial tools.

Erik J. Eliasen
Director
Mr. Eliasen joined Viasat in November 2017. As Director, Business Development, he is responsible for advancing Viasat’s Real Time Earth commercial ground network service as well as the Antenna Systems hardware activities for the National Security Space market. Furthermore, Mr. Eliasen advises Viasat leadership on strategic business decisions related to new opportunities.

Mr. Eliasen served for 20+ years in the U.S. Air Force where he gained a vast amount of satellite and space operations experience.

John Williams
VP, Viasat Real Time Earth
John Williams is the Vice President of Viasat’s Real-Time Earth (RTE) business area. He is directly responsible for the development, fielding, and operation of Viasat’s new ground-based command/control and data downlink RTE service.

John has over 35 years of experience in the military and commercial space industries. Before joining Viasat, John lead two global ground systems for the U.S. Air Force, provided strategic expertise as a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, and led a global commercial ground system as President and CEO of Universal Space Network.
