Soft tissue infections continue to be commonplace in the practice of all front-line practitioners. Most settle well with simple measures but on occasion a few will take a more dramatic course requiring significant surgical input in an attempt to save limb or life.
Necrotising soft tissue infections often termed necrotising fasciitis have become an increasingly common component of acute plastic surgery referrals. Such referrals need careful evaluation and timely surgical intervention.
