The Corporate Transparency Act which subjects certain companies operating in and from the United States to additional reporting requirements to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). The goal is to curtail money laundering and terrorism financing through new companies. Partnerships are governed by the statutes of the state in which they are organized and by the partnership's operating agreement, which has an impact on the tax return. Have you read the partnership agreement? SECURE Act significantly changed the distribution rules related to inherited employer plans and IRAs for many beneficiaries. Last year Secure Act 2.0 made further changes. We will take a deeper look at the law’s impact. Extended RMD age, 529 plan rollovers to ROTH accounts, new rules for Inherited IRAs, and backdoor ROTH conversions. Knowing how to help taxpayers in specific niche markets is one way for a small tax office to provide valuable expertise to independent contractors.
