Alex studied a Bachelor of Science before gaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Primary) and commencing her teaching career in New Zealand’s intermediate school system. She taught students in years 7 and 8 across all curriculum areas, with a particular passion for science and developing metacognitive thinking in students. Completing the Science Teaching Leadership Programme, facilitated by The Royal Society, was a career highlight that allowed Alex to work alongside scientists in the field and to study science-specific pedagogies. She has been with Stile since 2019, working in a variety of roles to support teachers in using Stile to deliver a high-quality science education.

Bill Matchett

Head of Science at Macquarie Fields High School, Vice president of LAZSTA - South West Sydney Science Teachers Association

Meet Bill Matchett, a seasoned educator with three decades of experience spanning various schools. With roles as both a teacher and head teacher, Bill brings a wealth of expertise to the table. His extensive knowledge extends to serving as an HSC marker and senior marker across science subjects like Senior Science and Science Extension. Bill co-authored iScienceNSW and Investigating Science in Focus, and author of SciX - A Guide to the Science Extension course. Bill's passion for education shines through in his numerous workshops, where he adeptly develops student understanding in areas such as Investigating Science, Physics, Chemistry, and Science Extension. Additionally, he's renowned for his contributions to professional learning in science pedagogy, student engagement, and innovative technology use for enhanced learning experiences.

Jacky Rooney

Head of Teaching and Learning

Jaclyn is a dedicated educator, bringing a wealth of experience in teaching, curriculum design, and teacher professional learning in both science and physical education. She joined Stile in 2016 and is responsible for Professional Learning. She is passionate about supporting, celebrating and enhancing the amazing work that science teachers do to help make science learning not only impactful, but relevant and engaging for students.
