Improved cattle breeding, nutrition and management have allowed for significant productivity gains and reductions in both resource use and greenhouse gas emissions per unit of milk or meat over past decades, however, there is little data available upon the sustainability impacts of animal health. This talk will discuss the impacts of cattle health on productivity, economics, greenhouse gas emissions and consumer perceptions of livestock production, offering ideas as to how we can continue to improve livestock sustainability through cattle health and how we can communicate these improvements to the consumer.
