VASEA Spring Seminar Webinar: Your Practice and Divorcing Clients
Divorcing taxpayers create an opportunity for tax professionals. Not only do you have more complicated tax returns to do, but you can help them, assist the attorney, and make money, even in the off season. Family law attorneys are, generally, not tax experts. Your knowledge can guide the attorney to write a better decree which reduces tax burdens on both spouses.
Learning Objectives
-Understand when you need a signed conflict of interest disclosure
-Translate between the lawyer/decree and the tax code
-Determine when carry over items need to be addressed
-Learn how to assist lawyers during the divorce to reduce taxes
-Make yourself a resource of information for the client
