Rob Saunders started his 43 year career with British Airways where he worked as an Avionics Engineer on both Line and Base maintenance. Following 3 years a Production Planning Engineer he moved to BA’s Maintrol supporting the wide body fleet and Concorde. In 1990 Rob took a position with Cathay Pacific as a Maintenance Controller. Following 2 years of projects including Cathay support of the newly opened TAECO facility, Rob move back to his first senior management position as Head of Maintenance Support which coincided with the airport move from Kai Tak to the CLK.
Before leaving Cathay in 2017, Rob held senior positions including Head of Engineering Technical Services, Implementation Manager of the Ultramain program, Head of Business Development and Head of Cost Management and LEAN.
In each position, from the days of db3 in 90s through to the latest e-enabled and mobility today, Rob has introduced new technologies to leverage change to achieve business benefits. These include defining the Paperless Strategy with digitisation of 33m technical records, the first full time globally connected e-enabled aircraft, Class 3, 2 and 1 Electronic Log book, Electronic Work Cards and RFID.
Rob is now Managing Director of Air2MRO, with a focus on moving airlines from paper operations to ELB and eWork Cards.
